Do you offer lessons on a one to one basis?
Yes, dependent on availability. The cost is £50 tuition fee per hour plus studio hire (studio hire is optional ; I am happy to travel to you in the Bristol/Bath area to a pet free home).
Can I come to a trial class/taster?
Regretably I cannot accomodate trial/taster classes due to the high costs of running classes. classes require a high initial outlay (venues require a min. 4 to 6 weeks rent in advance) and classes would not be possible unless I have a set number of students coming to those classes. By booking in advance, this enables me to run the classes/course :-)
Belly dance is a complex dance that one class in the middle of a course would not do it justice! Each class on a course focuses on a particular movement of the dance and breaking down the choreography step by step. This ensures maximum learning so there is no "goosebury" feeling you get when dropping in.
I am happy to arrange a private taster class on a one to one basis, answer questions you may have and give an overview/introduction to belly dance. The cost is £50 for an hour one to one plus studio hire (studio hire is optional and I am happy to travel to you in the Bristol/Bath area)
What should I wear? What are the other students like?
Classes are for females and are various ages from 18 to 60+ of all shapes and sizes. There is usually no more than 6 or 7 students on a course and everyone is keen to learn the dance.
Students wear what they feel most comfortable in, normally casual wear such as t-shirts, leggings, flowing skirts, and sports wear. You do not have to show your belly. Soft shoes are advised and bare feet is ok (mind the floor :-)
I arrange a social at the end of the course for us to perform the routine we have learned. There is no pressure to perform and you may wish to take the course for leisure/excercise purpose.
What is your teaching style?
I am an experienced and qualified teacher of dance ensuring the choreography is easy to follow and adapted to the students of the course. I ensure we always warm up and cool down.
I am told I am very patient and am always happy to repeat steps and choreographies if anyone is unsure.
I offer corrections on a group basis to keep the flow of the course relaxed. I am also happy to answer individual questions during or after class.
Do you run any regular classes?
No, mainly due to the costs in doing so. Many previous ladies ran regular belly dance classes and these folded due to the high costs.
I run courses on an ad hoc basis dependent on interest
Do you run any other classes or courses?
I do not run any other classes or courses that are open to the public
How many courses do you run a year?
I aim to run at least one course a year, or possibly two dependent on interest
Where are your classes?
These are held in a central location and can change from year to year dependent on availability of a good dance studio. For security reasons, the venue is not confirmed until a course place has been paid.
Do you do workshops?
I run workshops on an ad hoc basis and details of any forthcoming workshops will be on the website
